MAKING WATER PROVISION A REALITY IN THE ARID AND SEMI-ARID LANDS

FOCUS ON THE AGILE AND HARMONIZED ASSISTANCE FOR DEVOLVED INSTITUTIONS PROGRAM
AHADI is organized around three key objectives that include: targeted counties provide higher quality services through improved governance; improved representation of citizen interests and oversight of targeted county government performance; and functionality and effectiveness of the devolved system increased through improved intra-government engagement and cooperation

The program’s interventions aim to transform Kenya’s new county governments into effective organizations more capable of developing policy and delivering services at the county level by addressing the fundamental barriers to improved resilience, economic growth, natural resource management, water and sanitation, education, health and governance.
The project is currently working in 22 Counties, namely; Baringo, Bomet, Garissa, Isiolo, Kakamega, Kiambu Kisii, Lamu, Machakos, Mandera, Marsabit, Meru, Mombasa, Murang’a, Nairobi, Nandi, Siaya, Nyamira, Tharaka Nithi, Trans-Nzoia, Turkana, Vihiga and Wajir

AHADI INTRODUCES AN E_NEWSLETTER
The USAID’s Agile and Harmonized Assistance for Devolved Institutions(AHADI) Program, has introduced an E-newsletter as part of its efforts to reach out to various stakeholders
Hon Mwangi Kiunjuri, (2 nd left) flanked by Senators and County Assembly Leaders during the launch of Public Participation Guidelines and Civic Education Materials.
 
The program, implemented by the State University of New York, intends to publish the E-newsletter on quarterly basis. This will enable AHADI stakeholders and beneficiaries to have a clear understanding of the programs goals and objectives.
The E-newsletter will champion the transformative agenda of devolution, that has so far made government services accessible to many Kenyans, that were hitherto unavailable. Services such as agriculture and livestock extension services are now being provided at the county level, and there is need to highlight some of the successes being realized throughout the country.

COUNTY WORKERS SIGN PERFORMANCE CONTRACTS, PROMISE BETTER SERVICE DELIVERY
On January 13, 2015, Tharaka Nithi County Government signed performance contracts with its staff in a launch ceremony themed ‘what is measured, gets done’. The ceremony was a culmination of a comprehensive process of introducing results based management, with the support of USAID through the Agile and Harmonized Assistance for Devolved Institutions program (AHADI).
